Jeannette Knutson, 97 of Webster died on Tuesday, October 08, 2019 at Bethesda Home in Webster.
Her funeral will be at 1:30 P.M. Saturday, October 12, 2019 at American Lutheran Church in Webster, Rev. Allie Smith officiating. Burial will be at Highland Lutheran Cemetery, Lily.
Visitation will be at the funeral home in Webster on Friday 5-7 P.M and prior to service at the church on Saturday.
Jeannette Helen Folven was born on Wednesday August 23, 1922 to Knute and Mabel (Stadsklev) Folven in Lynn Townships, Day County. She was baptized at Bergan Lutheran Church near Bristol. She attended rural school near the family farm for two years. In 1930 the family moved to Lily, South Dakota where they owned a general merchandise store. She was confirmed at Lily Lutheran Church. She graduated from high school in 1940 and spent the next two years attending Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In 1966 she graduated from Northern State College in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
Jeannette married Rudolph “Rudy” Knutson on November 4, 1945 at Lily Lutheran Church. They moved east of Lily and lived on Rudy’s grandfathers homestead farm. Jeanette taught for 35 years and retired in 1986. Rudy passed away in 1988 and Jeanette moved to Webster, South Dakota.
Jeannette was very involved in church activates. She served on the church council and was an active member of WELCA. She frequently taught Sunday school, confirmation classes and Bible studies. Jeannette enjoyed being with her family, going camping and spending time at their cabin at Enemy Swim Lake.
Death came to Jeannette on October 8, 2019. She had reached the age of 97 years 1 month and 16 days.
Jeannette is survived by her three children; Randy (Marlene) Knutson of Miller, SD, Deb (Gailand) Henrichsen of Webster, SD, Cindy VanMeeter of St. Crouix Falls, WI, five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Rudy, three sisters; Sylvia Matthews, Evelyn Hanson, Marlene Kuecker, and one brother Kermit Floven, and one granddaughter.
