Jason Shoemaker, 44 of Webster died on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
His funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the Webster Armory in Webster, Rev. Mike DeKraai will officiate. Burial will be in Webster Cemetery.
Visitation will be at St. John's Lutheran Church in Webster on Tuesday 5-7 P.M. ending with a 7 P.M. prayer service. Family prefers memorials to a Webster Athletic Fund they will be setting in his name.
Jason Russell Shoemaker was born on July 22, 1973 to Roger and Marie (Tvinnereim) Shoemaker in Redfield, South Dakota. He was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Redfield and was later confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Webster. When he was three years old the family moved to Webster where he attended Webster Public Schools and High School where he graduated in 1991. While in high school he was active in football, wrestling, band and various choruses. He attended Northern State College and Presentation College in Aberdeen. He then came back to Webster to work at the family owned business, Webster Scale Service, Inc.
On September 19, 1998 he was united in marriage to Charla Spiering at Christ The King Catholic Church in Webster. To this union, four beautiful children were born, Carter, Cara, Cole and Callie. After their marriage the couple made their home in Webster and he continued to work in the family business until the present time.
Jason was an avid sports fan in regard to his children’s sports activities which included wrestling, swim team and basketball. He loved camping, spending any and all time at the lake where he enjoyed fishing, pontooning and campfires. Jason was always humming, singing and listening to tunes. One of his greatest passions was grilling and smoking meats, participating in chili cook-offs and sharing his “creations” with everyone.
Jason passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 44 years, 4 months and 28 days.
Surviving him are his wife, Charla of Webster; his children, Carter, Cara, Cole and Callie all at home; his mother and step-father, Marie Rexius and Dennis Johnson of Webster, SD; his father and step-mother, Roger and Teresa Shoemaker of Webster, SD; his brothers, John (Angela) Shoemaker and Joel (Alyssa) Shoemaker both of Webster, SD; his paternal grandfather, Russell Shoemaker of Webster, SD; his maternal grandparents, Donald and Winefred Tvinnereim of Webster, SD; step-sisters, Debbie (Mark) Loe and Robin Jacobson; step-brother, Aaron Whitney; step-sister, Amber (Will) Fish; step brothers, Aaron (Sarah) Johnson, Matthew (Mel) Johnson and Ben (Nichole) Johnson; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Doris Shoemaker and step-father, Larry Rexius.
