Jan Kwasniewski, 78, of Roslyn and formerly of Webster, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at SK Living Center in Roslyn.
Memorial visitation will be 1-3 P.M. Sunday, October 23, 2022 closing with a 3 P.M. prayer service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at the Webster Cemetery.
Janis Jean was born on July 30, 1944, at Faribault, Minnesota. At a very young age she was adopted by Elven T. and Mary Plowman. She attended school in Brookings and graduated from BHS in 1962. Jan furthered her education attending beauty school and Watertown Business University. She then traveled around working and living in various places including Minneapolis, Aberdeen, and Pierre. In the early ‘70’s she moved to Webster living with friends, Putsy and Brownie Green. While living there she met the love of her life, Jerry Kwasniewski. The couple married January 5, 1973, at Webster. To this union three children were born: Stacy, Tim, and Jeff. The family made their home on a farm southeast of Webster where they farmed. After the kids started school, Jan began cooking at Head Start and later at the Golden Age Center in Webster. She then took a position at the Bethesda Nursing Home in medical records where she worked until her retirement. Jerry passed away in 2003, and Jan remained on the farm for a couple years before moving into Webster. Jan was a member of the Webster Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, sunbathing, reading, playing BINGO, and riding motorcycle. Jan was an extremely proud grandma, who cherished time with her grandkids. She was instrumental in their lives and made each of them feel so incredibly special and deeply loved.
Jan passed away at Roslyn, South Dakota at the age of 78 years, 2 months, and 20 days.
She will be forever loved and greatly missed by her children, Stacy (Dave) Berg of Watertown, SD, Tim (Sarah Hamann) Kwasniewski of Webster, and Jeff (Amanda Dohn) Kwasniewski of Webster, five grandchildren, Tanner, Tava, Alex, Kaden, and Dawson, one grand-dog Brookes, two brothers-in-law, Ronnie Kwasniewski of Webster, SD, and Don Kwasniewski of Webster, SD and one sister-in-law Joyce Kwasniewski of Watertown, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson Tyler Berg, and siblings, Jack Plowman and Marilyn Haney.
