Janice Johnson, 67 of Webster died on Monday, March 27, 2017 at Manor Care in Aberdeen.
Memorial services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday April 4, 2017 at Fiksdal Chapel in Webster, Pastor Mike McCarlson will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Aberdeen.
Janice Marie Oe was born on January 10, 1950 to Alfred and Elsie (Rogers) Oe at Aberdeen, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. She attended St. Mary’s School in Aberdeen and graduated from Roncalli High School in 1968.
On April 16, 1993 she was united in marriage to Rodney Johnson of Webster. Janice and her daughter, Heather welcomed Rodney and his three sons and the family quickly became a blended family of six! Janice was employed at Bethesda Home in Aberdeen and later in Webster. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant as well as a housekeeper.
Janice was a talented gardener. She especially loved flower gardening. Her favorite flowers were lilies and roses. She also enjoyed reading, surfing the internet, and above all, she cherished time spent with her family.
After a courageous battle with a very rare and aggressive cancer, Liposarcoma, she went to be with her Lord on Monday March 27, 2017 at Aberdeen, South Dakota at the age of 67 years, 2 months and 17 days.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, Rodney of Webster, SD; daughter Heather (Luke) Bierschbach of Lawrence, KS; step-sons; Vern (Stacie) Johnson of Roslyn, SD, Jamie (Amy) Johnson of Aberdeen, SD, and Matt (Casey) Johnson of Groton, SD. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; Dylan, Aiden, and Molly Bierschbach, Levi, Trevor, Avery, Eveline, Olivia, Axton, Bentley, and Paisley Johnson; four sisters, Theresa (Pat) Kuckelburg and Marge Gisi both of Aberdeen, SD, JoAnn (John) Eckert of Harrisburg, SD and Mary Schaible of Colorado Springs, CO; and one brother Ed Oe of San Bernardino, CA. She also leaves behind her special cat, Hemi. She was preceded in death by her parents, and grandparents.
Janice’s family would like to express their appreciation to all the doctors, nurses and staff that have been a part of her care team throughout her illness these past few months.
