WAUBAY- Jack “J.J.” Kempter, Jr. 17 of Waubay died on Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at Avera St. Lukes Hospital in Aberdeen. Memorial services will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at the Waubay School Gymnasium in Waubay, Rev. Michael Peterson and Rev. Rick Curtis officiating. Visitation will be at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Waubay on Friday 2-4 P.M. Jack Russell “J.J.” Kempter, Jr. was born on Thursday, June 9, 1988 to Jack and Kathryn (Barrett) Kempter, Sr. at San Diego, California. In 1990 the family moved to Olivehurst in northern California. He began school there at Arboga Elementary School. In 1996 the family moved to Waubay, South Dakota where he entered the third grade. He was currently a senior at Waubay High School. He worked at the National Guard Armory in Webster for a short time and also at Day County Equipment in Webster. He was looking forward to entering into military service when he finished high school. He loved to hunt deer, target shooting, snowmobiling and other outside activities. Other interests were the computer and video games with friends. He enjoyed actvities with family and friends. J.J. passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at Aberdeen, South Dakota at the age of 17 years, 7 months and 22 days. Survivors include his parents, Jack and Kathryn Kempter of Waubay, SD; one brother, James (Kim) Kempter of Kalispell, MT; two sisters, Katrina (Dave) Kurkowski of Waubay, SD and Shannon (Scott) Little of Summit, SD; his maternal grandmother, Patricia Barrett of Waubay, SD; and nieces, Jackie Kempter, Tierra Roper, Aryal Kempter, Billie Roper, Shyanna Kempter, Dakota Kempter, Alexis Little and Joleigh Kurkowski. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, maternal grandpa and one nephew.
