Hyacinth Mary Ann Kampa was born on January 19, 1932, to Ben and Dora (Horst) Pesall at Webster, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Otto’s Catholic Church. She attended parochial school at St. Otto’s and went on to Lily High School and graduated from Webster High School in 1950.

On June 18, 1951, she married Frank Kampa. To this union, six children were born, LeRoy, JoAnn, Raymond, Bob, Mary Ann, and Mark. The family made their home in Webster. Hyacinth was a homemaker and kept busy raising their children.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, reading, crocheting, traveling and especially loved time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Hyacinth enjoyed socializing but it was made difficult with her hearing impairment. She didn’t let that hinder her. Hyacinth requested that her funeral not have a eulogy read. She stated that she lived most of her life in silence and desired to journey from this earthly life to her eternal home in heaven in the same manner. She was a devout, Christian woman with an unshakeable faith in her Lord and Savior.

Hyacinth will be forever loved and greatly missed by her children, JoAnn (Gordon) Norton of Hot Springs, SD, Raymond Kampa of Webster, SD, Bob (Vicki) Kampa of Elk River, MN, Mark (Vicki) Kampa of Webster, SD, 14 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers, Jerry Pesall of Webster, SD, Roger Pesall of Webster, SD, and Leon Pesall of Brookings, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Kampa, daughter Mary Ann Kampa, son LeRoy Kampa, grandson Brandon Kampa, three brothers, Bernard, Dennis, and Don Pesall.
