Herbert Nolte, 91 of Webster died on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Sanford Hospital in Webster.
His funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol, Rev. Chris Strohm will officiate. Burial will be at Bristol Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday 5-7 P.M. and prior to services on Wednesday.
Herbert August Nolte was born on March 15, 1926 to August and Alice Hazel (Berg) Nolte at Peabody Memorial Hospital in Webster, South Dakota. The family lived in Valley Township, Day County, South Dakota west of Butler where he grew up. He was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Bristol. He attended country school near his home and graduated from Butler High School in 1944. After he received his education he farmed with his father and brother on the family farm.
He was united in marriage to Donna Jean Raap on November 29, 1947 at Butler Lutheran Church in Butler. After their marriage the couple lived with his parents for a very short time and then rented a farm and farmed west of Lily for a few years. In 1952 they moved to their present farm southeast of Holmquist in Butler Township where he farmed. He also worked part-time for Webster Livestock Exchange in Webster along with farming. In 2007 he retired from active farming but continued to live on the farm until the present time.
He was a member of Butler Lutheran Church where he served on the Church Council and was an usher. He also served on the Bethesda Home Board in Webster and Butler Township Board. He also received t the Outstanding Young Farmer Award. The couple enjoyed traveling and sightseeing throughout the United States, but most importantly he enjoyed farming and being on the farm. He also enjoyed visits from his family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Herb passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 91 years, 4 months and 29 days.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Jean of Webster; three sons, Loren (Mary Lou) Nolte of DeSmet, SD, Wesley (Karen) Nolte and Wayne (Katherine) Nolte both of Webster, SD; one daughter, Marylin (Larry) Beers of Sioux Falls, SD; twelve grandchildren and twentyone great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Duane and one great granddaughter.
