Hazel Lardy

ROSLYN- Hazel Lardy, 90 of Roslyn died on Saturday, July 22, 2006 at Strand-Kjorsvig Community Rest Home in Roslyn. Her funeral will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at Fron Lutheran Church near Roslyn. Janet Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Tuesday, 4-8 P.M. and prior to services on Wednesday. Hazel Rosena Monshaugen was born on Thursday, October 7, 1915 to Peter and Inga (Hanson) Monshaugen on the family farm in Liberty Township, Day County, South Dakota northwest of Roslyn. She was baptized and confirmed at Roslyn Lutheran Church. She attended country school near her home. On June 16, 1936 she was united in marriage to Oscar Lardy at Webster, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple made their home on various farms in the Roslyn area. In the early 1940’s the purchased a farm in Grenville Township near Roslyn. In 1981 they moved to Roslyn. Mr. Lardy passed away in March 1998. After his death she continued to live in Roslyn and entered Strand-Kjorsvig Community Rest Home in August 1999. She was a member of Fron Lutheran Church where she was active in Circle and taught Sunday School. She enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening. Hazel passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2006 at Roslyn, South Dakota at the age of 90 years, 9 months and 15 days. Survivors include two daughters, Luanne (Charles) Spiering of Webster, SD and Marlene (Harold) Miller of Aberdeen, SD; two sisters, Ruby Gilbertson of Roslyn, SD and Irene Hemmah of Webster, SD; eight grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, one brother and one sister.
