BRISTOL- Hazel Jordanger 83 of Groton and formerly of Bristol and South Shore died on Wednesday, January 06, 2010 at Golden Living Center in Groton. Her funeral will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday, January 11, 2010 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol, Rev. Janet Miller officiating. Burial will be at Bergen Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Sunday, 5-7 P.M. and prior to services on Monday. fiksdalfuneral.com. Hazel Maxine Sand was born on Monday, April 5, 1926 to Helge and Mathilda “Tillie” (Larson) Sand at Bristol, South Dakota. The family made their home west of Bristol. She was baptized and confirmed at Bergen Lutheran Church. She attended school in Bristol and then worked at a retail store and a café in Bristol. On November 14, 1945 she was united in marriage to Arthur Jordanger in Bristol, South Dakota. After their marriage they made their home in Bristol. In 1973 the couple moved to South Shore where they managed the city liquor store. In 1983 they retired. After Arthur passed away in September 1990, Hazel continued to live in South Shore until 2005 when she moved to Watertown. She entered Golden Living Center in Groton in April 2008. She enjoyed gardening and baking. She was very artistic and loved to paint. Hazel passed away on Wednesday January 6, 2010 in Groton, South Dakota at the age of 83 years, 9 months and 1 day. Survivors include one son, Ken (Carol) Jordanger of Aberdeen, SD; two sisters, Delores Flattum of Bristol, SD and Ruby Bratager of Sacramento, CA; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister.
