ROSLYN- Harold Moen, 92 of Roslyn died on Sunday, July 27, 2008 at Strand Kjorsvig Community Rest Home in Roslyn. His funeral will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Roslyn Lutheran Church in Roslyn, Rev. Selmer “Sam” Hatlestad and Janet Johnson S.A.M. officiating. Burial will be in the Roslyn cemetery. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Tuesday 4-7 P.M. and prior to services on Wednesday. Harold Moen was born on Thursday, January 27, 1916 to Sigvart and Nora (Saga) Moen on the family farm in Nutley Township, Day County, South Dakota northeast of Roslyn. He was baptized and confirmed at Saron Lutheran Church. He attended Nutley #166 country school near his home. After he received his education he worked for farmers in the Sisseton area. On December 7, 1935 he married Norah Arneson at Sisseton, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple made their home in Webster where he worked road construction and for Storsteen Garage. In 1949 they purchased a farm and moved to Nutley Township and was engaged in farming. Mrs. Moen passed away in 1980. In 1981 he moved Watertown and married Harriet Becking on November 27, 1981. They made their home in Watertown where he worked for Lakeland Nursery for eight years and then for the City of Watertown Parks & Recreation Department until he retired in 1995. He entered Strand-Kjorsvig Community Rest Home in May 2007. He was a member of Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Watertown. He belonged to Watertown Senior Citizens and Golden Age Club. He also was a member of Sons of Norway. He enjoyed working outdoors and being with family, especially his grandchildren. Harold passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2008 at Roslyn, South Dakota at the age of 92 years and 6 months. Survivors include his wife, Harriet of Watertown, SD; one son, Richard (Barb) Moen of Roslyn, SD; one daughter, Myrene (Alden) Hanson of Grenville, SD; a step-son, Ralph Becking of Florence, SD; a step-daughter, Carol Becking of Watertown, SD; nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, eleven step-grandchildren, , four step-great grandchildren and three step-great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, one son, two brothers, two sisters and two grandsons.
