Harlan Hamman 92 of Waubay died Thursday August 7, 2014 at Sanford Hospital Webster.
His funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Monday August 11, 2014 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Waubay. Burial will be at Lakewood Cemetery near Waubay.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
Harlan Harry Hamman was born on October 13, 1921 to William and Alma (Schmidt) Hamman on the family farm North of Ortley in Alto Township, Roberts County, S.D. He was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waubay, S.D.
Harlan attended country school in Alto and Ortley Townships. After graduating the Eighth Grade, Harlan started farming with his parents until 1958, when they moved from the farm to Waubay, S.D. He resided in Waubay, S.D. until the time of his death. Harlan was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Waubay, S.D. since 1947 and served as an usher for many years. He enjoyed fishing with his father before his death, gardening and tending flowers.
Harlan is survived by his brother, Willis Hamman of Watertown, S.D.; one nephew, Roger Hamman, Fairmont, N.D.; one niece, Phyllis Dean, Cottage Grove, M.N.; three great-nephews, David, Richard and Daniel: one great-niece, Staci: six great-great nephews, Brandon, Nicholas, Blake, Hunter, A.J., Keanu; and eight great-great nieces, Amanda, Anjanee, Morgan, Isabel, Brittnie, Jenna, Kayla and Autumn.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Alice and LaVera; one niece, Nancy Kurkowski and one great-niece, Amy Hamman.
