Gerald Robinson

ROSLYN- Gerald Robinson, 85 of Roslyn died on Monday, November 13, 2006 at Lake Area Hospital in Webster. Mass of Christian Burial with be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 17, 2006 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grenville. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Thursday 2-4 P.M. then continuing at the church in Grenville 6-8 P.M. with a 7 P.M. Scriptural Prayer service. Gerald Joseph Robinson was born on Saturday, January 22, 1921 to Lenny and Margaret (Miotke) Robinson on the family farm near Pickerel Lake. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grenville. He attended school near his home and then farmed with his parents before his marriage. On June 8, 1948 he married Irene Kurkowski at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grenville. After their marriage the couple made their home and farmed near Enemy Swim Lake. In 1952 they bought a farm in Kosciusko Township northeast of Grenville and were engaged in dairy, beef and grain farming. In the early 1970’s he did masonry work around the area lakes, building stone walls and fireplaces. In the late 1980’s he retired from farming but continued to live on the farm. He entered Strand-Kjorsvig Community Rest Home in Roslyn in April 2005. His interests included fishing, gardening and traveling. Gerald passed away on Monday, November 13, 2006 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 85 years, 9 months and 22 days. Survivors include his wife, Irene of Roslyn; one son, Dennis Robinson of Watertown, SD; five daughters, Gerri (Ray) Brink of McAllen, TX, Patricia Manning of Sioux Falls, SD, Jane (Don) Jensen of Aberdeen, SD, Laurie (James) Kegley of Gayville, SD and Lisa (Tom) Wyum of Rutland, ND; two brothers, Charles (Carol) Robinson of Grenville, SD and Eugene (Florence) Robinson of North Branch, MN; fourteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Dean, one granddaughter, Janel and one brother, Walter.
