GRENVILLE - Genevieve “Genny” Heley of Grenville and formerly of Lidgerwood, ND, passed away Thursday March 16, 2017 at Bethesda Home in Webster.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 Monday March 27, 2017 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Grenville. Burial will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Lidgerwood, ND.
Visitation will be Sunday 5 – 7 P.M. at the church in Grenville closing with a 7 P.M. Rosary service.
Genevieve Katherine Dolezal was born on Tuesday July 8, 1919 to Joseph and Mary (Kouba) Dolezal at the Dolezal family farm in Liberty Grove Township, North Dakota. She was the youngest of 11 children. She was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith. She attended country school near her home and graduated from Wahpeton High School in 1937. After graduation, she managed an ice cream shop in Wahpeton.
On October 1, 1940, she was united in marriage to Ben Heley at St. Johns Catholic Church in Lidgerwood, North Dakota. The couple made their home near Lidgerwood where the couple farmed. To this union four children were born. Genevieve was a wonderful homemaker and farmer. In 1974, the couple retired and moved to a farm near Grenville, South Dakota. Ben passed away in 1984. Genevieve continued to live at their home on the farm until recently when she moved to Bethesda Home in Webster.
Genevieve enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and above all else, spending time with her family and friends.
Genevieve passed away Thursday March 16, 2017 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 97 years, 8 months, and 8 days.
She will be greatly missed by her children; Roland (Linda) Heley of Cottage Grove, MN, Sandy Deeter of Post Falls, ID, and Joyce (Roger) Kulesa of Grenville, SD, deceased son Ronald’s special friend Peggy Weber of Bismarck, ND, five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Ronald, and her ten siblings.
