WEBSTER- Franklin Fiksdal, 78 of Webster died on Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at Bethesda Home in Webster. Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 16, 2006 at the Heritage Village Chapel, Rev. Steve Hargis officiating. Burial of Mr. Fiksdal’s cremains will be at a later date in St. Pauli Lutheran Cemetery near Wallace. Fiksdal Funeral Service of Webster is in charge of the arrangements. Franklin Benjamin Fiksdal was born on Thursday, January 20, 1927 to Olaf and Alida (Swanson) Fiksdal on a farm in Blaine Township, Clark County, South Dakota east of Lily. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Pauli Lutheran Church near Wallace. He attended country school near his home. After receiving his education he began farming with his parents on the family farm. He entered the U.S. Army and served in Korea during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge he returned to the family farm. On July 13, 1955 he married Mary Jane Gusenius at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol. After their marriage the couple made their home on the Fiksdal family farm. In 1972 they sold the farm and moved to Watertown where Franklin worked for Watertown Insulation and purchased the water delivery business from Culligan. In 1976 they moved to Cody, Wyoming and in 1981 they purchased Iverson Sanitation. He retired in 1998. He entered West Park Long Term Care Center in Cody in January 2003, then in May 2003 moved to Powell Valley Care Center in Powell, Wyoming. In September 2004 he, and his wife, moved to Webster where he entered Bethesda Home. He was an active member of St. Pauli Lutheran Church near Wallace and later, Cody Assembly of God Church where he was baptized as an adult. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time outdoors. Franklin passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 78 years, 11 months and 15 days. Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Fiksdal of Webster, SD; a special niece, Marie Gusenius of Seattle, WA; three brothers-in-law, James (Mary Ann) Gusenius of Webster, SD, Delmar (Karen) Gusenius of Cordes Lakes, AZ and David (Janice) Gusenius of Bristol, SD; one sister-in-law, Blanche Fiksdal of Bristol, SD; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Marvel, Odell and Nobel (infant).
