Frank Lewandowski, 96 of Waubay died on Friday, February 18, 2011 at Tekakwitha Living Center in Sisseton.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Waubay. Spring burial will be at the Waubay Catholic Cemetery.

Frank Sylvester Lewandowski was born May 10, 1914 to Leon and Martha (Rilander) Lewandowski on the family farm near Grenville, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith. The family moved to a farm northeast of Waubay, South Dakota, where he attended country grade school through the eighth grade. After his education he continued to live and work on the family farm.
On November 18, 1947, he married Bertha Rinas at Waubay. The couple purchased the family farm, and began their life raising their family and continued to farm.
Frank had a great passion for farming, especially raising cattle and sheep. He also enjoyed cattle and auction sales and his dogs.
Frank passed away Friday February 18, 2011 at Sisseton, South Dakota at the age of 96 years, 9 months, and 8 days.
He is survived by his children: LeRoy (Karen) Lewandowski of Waubay, SD, Elaine (Joe Millage) Thennis of Philip, SD, DiAnn (Max) Fleischhacker of Sisseton, SD, JoAnn (Kenneth) Snaza of Grenville, SD, Merle (Mary) Lewandowski of Vienna, SD, David (Donna) Lewandowski of Waubay, SD, Duane (Blanche) Lewandowski of Peever, SD, Bernice (Dale) Dewerff of Watertown, SD, two sisters, Clara Olmsted of Huron, SD, Frances (Dean) Hill of Madison, SD, nineteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bertha, an infant son Joe, an infant granddaughter Malinda, his brothers Anthony, Joe, Leo, his sisters, Regina, Angie, Rose, Lucy, and Celia.
