Florence Davis

WAUBAY – Florence Davis, 77 of Waubay passed away Friday March 30, 2018 at Edgewood Vista in Brookings, SD. Her funeral will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Egeland Lutheran Church near Waubay, Pastor Janet Miller will officiate. Burial will be at Wheatland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday 5-7 P.M. and prior to services at the church. Florence Carol Richardt was born on October 21, 1940 to Lawrence and Beatrice (Grant) Richardt at Webster, South Dakota. The family made their home in Waubay. She attended school in Waubay and graduated from Waubay High School in 1959. On September 24, 1960 she was united in marriage to William B. Davis at Waubay, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple made their home on the Davis family farm in Wheatland Township, Day County, south of Waubay. Florence worked at the State Bank of Waubay and then the Waubay City offices for several years. William passed away in October 1993. After his death she continued to live on the farm and on July 14, 1997 she married Robert Grebel. In 2000 they moved into Waubay. She moved to Country View Assisted Living in Florence in 2016 and then to Edgewood Vista Nursing Home in Brookings in February 2018. She was a member of Egeland Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher and Luther League Advisor. She also quilted, crocheted and needlepoint with the church women. She was a 4-H leader, enjoyed playing cards, attending sports activities and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Florence passed away on Friday, March 30, 2018 at Brookings, South Dakota at the age of 77 years, 5 months and 9 days. Survivors include her husband, Robert Grebel of Waubay; four sons, Duncan (Carol) Davis and William Davis both of Waubay, SD; Paul (Keri) Davis of Rock Rapids, IA and Jeff (Karmen) Davis of Brandon, SD; two daughters, Jill (Jason) Osborne of Canton, SD and Nancy (Dana) Hagen of Sioux Falls, SD; three sisters, Loreen Aker of Waubay, SD, Dorothy Eidet of Watertown, SD and Beverly (Harlan) Bachmann of Watertown, SD; and seventeen grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, William.
