Evelyn Zubke, 90, of Webster passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021 at Bethesda Home in Webster.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday July 2, 2021, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waubay. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday 5-7 P.M. closing with a 7 P.M. prayer service at the funeral home.
Evelyn Ann Zubke was born on June 2, 1931, to Melvin and Anna (Holm) Mikkelson at Waubay, South Dakota. She attended Breske Country School near Waubay. After her education Evelyn worked for local families babysitting, cooking, and cleaning.
On June 21, 1949, she was united in marriage to Vergil Zubke at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waubay. The couple purchased a farm northwest of Waubay and began farming. Evelyn stayed home to raise their five children. Once the children were grown, Evelyn worked as a home health aide. Vergil passed away in 1998 at which time Evelyn remained on the farm until 2000 when she moved to Webster.
On August 4, 2000, she married Harry Zubke. The couple made their home in Webster. Harry passed away in 2012. Evelyn continued to live in Webster. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waubay. She enjoyed gardening and was known for her beautiful petunias and peonies. She also enjoyed caring for small animals, playing BINGO, and time spent with her grandchildren. She also will be remembered for her cooking and baking which she made sure to pass on to her children and grandchildren in the cookbooks she made unique for them.
Evelyn passed away Monday June 28, 2021, at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 90 years, and 26 days.
She will be forever loved and greatly missed by two sons; Kellie (Lynne) Zubke of Sargeant, MN, Jimmie (Pam) Zubke of Waubay, SD, one daughter Cherrie (Dale) Whitlock of Webster, SD, two daughters-in-law; Karen Zubke of Watertown, SD and Grace Zubke of South Shore, SD, 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister Ruth (Don) Doyen of Spearfish, SD, and three sisters-in-law; Adela Allen of Sioux Falls, SD, Shirley Bisgard of Watertown, SD, and Ramona Mikkelson of Webster, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, two sons Rick Zubke and Jack Zubke, two brothers, and five sisters.
