Evelyn Coyne, 98 of Bristol and formerly of Aberdeen and Webster died on Friday, December 16, 2016 at Sun Dial Manor in Bristol.
Her funeral will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday (December 29, 2016) at Fiksdal Funeral Chapel in Webster. Rev. Chris Strohm officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday (December 28) 5-7 P.M. and prior to services.
Evelyn Louise Petrich was born on April 8, 1918 to Charles and Hilma (Thompson) Petrich on the family farm near Butler, Day County, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at Butler Lutheran Church. She attended school in Butler and graduated from Butler High School in 1936. After high school she attended Northern State Teacher’s College and received a teaching certificate and taught in rural schools in Day County.
She was united in marriage to Francis Coyne on June 12, 1940 at the family farm in Butler Township. To this union three children were born, Ardis, Charles and LeAnn. The couple made their home on a farm northeast of Butler and lived there for thirty seven years. In 1977 the couple moved to a home just west of Webster. Francis passed away in July 1983. After his death she continued to live in her home until 1994 when she moved to Aberdeen. In 2008 she moved to Gellhaus Care House in Aberdeen and in August 2016 she entered Sun Dial Manor in Bristol.
Grateful for sharing Evelyn’s life are two daughters, Ardis Schiley of St. Paul, NE and LeAnn (Roger) Finley of Salem, SD; a daughter-in-law, Janet Coyne of Webster; grandchildren, Paul (Shelly) Schiley, Kimberly (Phil) Bader, Patrick (Rachel) Schiley, Dawn (Jeremy) Brown, Christa (Brian) Sieben, Aaron Finley, Benjamin Finley and Rachel (Paul) Longhenry; greatgrandchildren, Eliana and Samuel Schiley, Justus, Connor and Levi Bader, Parker and Delaney Brown, CharliRae Sieben, Jerry and AnnaLee Longhenry; a sister-in-law, Gertrude Coyne of Van Nuys, CA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Charles, a son-in-law, David Schiley and a grandson, Daniel Schiley.
