ROSLYN- Ethel Gilbertson, 91 of Roslyn died on Friday, December 30, 2005 at Strand-Kjorsvig Community Rest Home in Roslyn. Her funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at Roslyn Lutheran Church, Roslyn, Rev. Terrill Sorensen and Rev. Howard Kjos officiating. Burial will be in the Roslyn Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 P.M. Monday at Fiksdal Funeral Service, Webster and prior to the church services on Tuesday. Ethel Jeanette Gullickson was born on Tuesday September 8, 1914 to John and Ella (Haaland) Gullickson at Honeyford, North Dakota. Growing up, she lived in many towns in North Dakota as her father was an auditor for an elevator company. The family moved to Roslyn in 1932, after she had graduated from the Park River Agricultural Training School in Park River, North Dakota. She had various clerking jobs in Roslyn and O’Neill, Nebraska, where the family lived for one year operating a coast to coast store. On August 14, 1933 she married George Gilbertson at Sisseton, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple made their home in Roslyn. Ethel was a member of Roslyn Lutheran Church, Church Women, Choir, and Sunday school superintendent. She enjoyed knitting for the Red Cross, and was an excellent seamstress; sewing for herself and her family, she enjoyed dancing, loved music, and sports. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Shrine Women, Day County Extension, and the Roslyn Women’s Study Club which began in 1936. Survivors include one daughter, Joan Storley of Roslyn; two half brothers, Harvey Gullickson of CA, and Paul Gullickson of Idaho; one half sister, Shirley Mariano of Bullhead City, AZ; three sister-in-laws, Lovella Gullickson of Roslyn, SD Arlene Gilbertson of Webster, SD and Betty Gilbertson of Redfield, SD; four grandchildren, Susan (Myron) Haar of Aberdeen, SD, Shane (Vonda) Storley of Britton, SD Shelley (Randy) Deutsch of Eden, SD and Shad (Melissa) Storley of Britton, SD; 14 greatgrandchildren; 6 great-greatgrandchildren; and 4 step-great-greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on April 6, 1998, 2 brothers, Howard and Sidney Gullickson, and 2 sisters, Evelyn Gullickson and Cecille Kincaid.
