WEBSTER- Esther Ohleen, 97 of Webster died on Monday, October 02, 2006 at Bethesda Home in Webster. Her funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 5, 2006 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Webster, Rev. Laura Overbo officiating. Burial will be at St. Ansgar Cemetery near Lily. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Wednesday 4-7 P.M. and prior to the services on Thursday. Esther Ruth Elizabeth Ohleen was born on Sunday, January 31, 1909 to David and Helena (Paulson) Ohleen on the family farm in Troy Township, Day County, South Dakota west of Lily. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Ansgar Lutheran Church near her home. She attended the Sunnyside Country School near her home. In 1946 she moved to Webster and joined St. John’s Lutheran Church where she was active in Circle and Bible Study. She worked at Knapp’s Café and later at Bain’s Café until retirement. She was recognized as Clerk of the Year in 1973. She entered Bethesda Home in Webster in January 1994. Her hobbies included embroidery, making quilts, working crossword puzzles and baking. She was known for her sugar cookies and kringla. She also enjoyed hosting Christmas Eve for the family for many years. Esther passed away on Monday, October 2, 2006 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 97 years, 8 months and 2 days. Survivors include one sister, Alma Peterson of Webster; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
