WEBSTER- Elmer Johnson, 94, of Webster, died on Sunday, March 18, 2007, at the Bethesda Home in Webster. His funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at the Heritage Village Chapel in Webster, Rev. Jan FitzGibbon officiating. Burial will be at Webster Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at Heritage Village Chapel. Fiksdal Funeral Service of Webster is in charge of the arrangements. Elmer William Johnson was born on Thursday, October 10, 1912 to John and Hulda (Peterson) Johnson on the family farm in Racine Township, Day County South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed at American Lutheran Church in Webster. He attended country school near his home and then helped on the family farm. On June 14, 1938 he married Christine Ludtke at Waubay, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple made their home in Webster. He worked for Wist Produce Company, was self employed as a painter and was part time as a custodian at the post office. He then became a rural mail carrier, was a mail carrier in town and then went back to delivering mail in the country. He retired in 1977 after 36 years of service in the post office. In November 2004 he moved to Heritage Village in Webster to be near his wife who was a resident of Bethesda Home. Elmer passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2007 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 94 years, 5 months and 8 days. Survivors include his wife, Christine of Webster; two sons, Leanel (Cynthia) Johnson of Grand Rapids, MN and Dean (Sherry) Johnson of West Fargo, ND; one daughter, Jeanine (Charles) Johnson of Apple Valley, MN; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Corrine Hamm, and one brother, John.
