Elizabeth Grace Storsteen

WATERTOWN- Elizabeth Grace Storsteen, 86 of Watertown and formally of Pierre diedon Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at Jenkins Living Center in Watertown. Private family services will be held with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Pierre. Cards of Sympathy may be sent to John Storsteen, 324 W. 7th Ave., Webster, SD 57274. Fiksdal Funeral Service of Webster is in charge of the arrangements. Elizabeth Grace Hanson was born on Wednesday, January 13, 1920 to Louis and Elizabeth (Brooks) Hanson on the family farm in Grant County, South Dakota near Big Stone City. She attended school in Ortonville, Minnesota. Her parents died when she was young and she moved to Chicago, Illinois to live with a brother and finished high school there. On June 24, 1939 she married John C. Storsteen in Watertown, South Dakota. The couple made their home in the Milbank area for a number of years, then moved to Willmar, Minnesota and then returned to Milbank where they lived until 1975. In 1975 they moved to Pierre. Mr. Storsteen passed away in 1997. In May 2006 she moved to Watertown and resided at Jenkins Living Center. She was active in church and community activities and belonged to P.E.O. Chapter C.G. in Pierre. For nearly 30 years, she served on the altar committee for the United Church of Christ in Pierre. Grace passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at Watertown, South Dakota at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 23 days. Survivors include her son, John (Karen) Storsteen of Webster, SD; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one sister, Vi Johnson of Picayune, MS; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 58 years.
