Elizabeth "Hanna" Magdalena Brinkmann Korf

BRISTOL – Elizabeth “Hanna” Magdalena Brinkmann Korf, 95, of Watertown and formerly of Bristol passed away Sunday September 13, 2020 at Avantara in Watertown. Private family services will be held. Elizabeth “Hanna” Magdelana Brinkmann was born on June 11,1925 to Hermann and Rosa Brinkmann in Celle, Germany. She was baptized and confirmed in the Reformed Church of Germany. Elizabeth attended school in Grossmoor where her family lived and farmed. After her education she helped on the family farm. As a young woman in post World War II Germany she worked at a variety of jobs including work at a cookie factory and being a chef's apprentice at a hotel. She was also a nanny for a local teacher’s family. She met August Korf when he returned to Assmissen, Germany to visit his family. They were united in marriage in November 1955 in Webster, South Dakota. The couple made their home in Bristol, South Dakota. Elizabeth stayed home to raise their four children, Hermann, Bernard, Ingrid, and Barbara. She was a devout Christian who enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and reading. She had a love for animals and would nurse any sick or injured animal back to health. Her passion was history and people described her as having an encyclopedic knowledge of European history. Above all else, she cherished time spent with her family. Elizabeth passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at Avantara in Watertown, South Dakota at the age of 95 years, 3 months, and 2 days. She will be deeply missed by her two sons, Hermann Korf of Aberdeen, SD and Bernard (Connie) Korf of Watertown, SD; two daughters, Ingrid Korf of Minneapolis, MN and Barbara Korf (Roger Butenhoff ) of Maplewood, MN and two grandchildren, Blake Butenhoff and Andrew Butenhoff both of Maplewood, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband August, siblings, Martha, Paula, Otto, Anna, Theodor, Walter, her niece Maria Jaekel and nephew Theodor Brinkmann.
