BRISTOL- Elaine Orr, 87 of Bristol died on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Sun Dial Manor in Bristol. Her funeral will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday, December 14, 2009 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol, Rev. Janet Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Bristol Cemetery. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Sunday 5-7 P.M. and prior to services on Monday. fiksdalfuneral.com. Elaine Harriet Esche was born on Saturday, October 14, 1922 to Erwin and Elsie (Herr) Esche at Bristol, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol. She attended school in Bristol and graduated from Bristol High School in 1941. After graduating from Aberdeen School of Commerce, she was employed at Nash-Finch Company in Aberdeen. She moved to Madison, Minnesota and was employed as a bookkeeper in a local creamery. On November 14, 1948 she was united in marriage to Dale Orr at Bristol. After their marriage the couple made their home in Bristol. Elaine was employed at her parents’ business, Esche Motor and Oil Company. In 1966 the couple also established Dale’s Service. She was also the City Finance Officer of Bristol for many years. In the early 1980’s when their son, Harold took over the family business. She entered Sun Dial Manor after the death of her husand in March 2000. She was member of Bethesda Lutheran Church where she was active in L.D.R., W.E.L.C.A. and quilting for World Relief. She belonged to the Jolly Dozen Club and the Bristol Commercial Club. Her hobbies included tating and crocheting. After the couple retired she enjoyed traveling and their cabin at Enemy Swim Lake, caring for grandchildren and going on fishing trips to Canada with her grandchildren. Elaine passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Bristol, South Dakota at the age of 87 years, 1 month and 26 days. Survivors include one son, Harold (Marcia) Orr of Bristol, SD; three daughters, Connie (Larry) Wagner of Webster, SD, Deanna (Daniel) Nielsen of Eldridge, IA and Faye (Tim) Berndt of Groton, SD; one sister, Von (George) Bennett of Rapid City, SD; thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, Gale Esche, Sr. and a lifelong friend, Pat Anderson.
