Eli Karlins, 26, of Fargo, ND passed away unexpectedly Monday, May 1, 2023, at Fargo.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Webster. Burial will be at St. Otto's Catholic Cemetery near Webster. Visitation will be 5-7 P.M. Friday at the funeral home, closing with a 7 P.M. wake service.

 

Eli was born on February 27, 1997 to Nathaniel Louis and Linda Mae (Burns) Karlins at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota. Eli graduated from Fargo North High School in 2015. Tall, strong, and intelligent, Eli wanted to dedicate his life to serving others.

After spending three summers working security at Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio, amongst other places, Eli became an Emergency Medical Technician.  He applied his trade first in small rural communities in North Dakota, such as Casselton and Lisbon, before joining FM Ambulance, now known as Sanford Ambulance, in Fargo-Moorhead. He worked there until his death. At the time of his passing, Eli was studying biology at NDSU, intending to become a become a nurse, or to attend podiatry school after graduation.

Eli was an enthusiastic traveler, having visited the Philippines and Colombia, with plans of returning to Colombia soon.  He was a proficient skier and lover of history and sports.  Eli was a Minnesota Vikings fan.  Eli loved attending football and baseball games with his family and spending time with his friends.

Eli is survived by his parents Nathaniel and Linda, Fargo, ND; eight siblings: Walter (Kayley), Fargo, ND; Elizabeth (William) Race, Virginia Beach, VA and their son Lachlan; Rebecca (Joseph) Cecil, Huntsville, AL and their daughters Kym and Olivia; Joseph, Minneapolis, MN; Hannah, Virginia Beach, VA; Ruth (Charlie), Madison, WI; Ella, St. Paul, MN; Abigail, Fargo, ND; He is also survived by his grandmother, Louise (Erdmann) Burns, Chamberlain, SD, five uncles and five aunts; and more than 40 cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Walter Howard Karlins (Karlinsky) in 1970 and Donald Elton Burns in 2010, his grandmother LuVay Pearl (Nesheim) Karlins in 2005, his uncle David Burns, and his cousin Robert Grimsrud.
