Edwin “Ed” Kuecker, 94, of Webster, passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at Bethesda Home in Webster. Funeral Service will be at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, August 16, 2021, at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster and will be livestreamed on fiksdalfuneral.com. Gene Bucklin will officiate. Burial will follow at Webster Cemetery with Military Honors. Family and friends are welcomed back to the funeral home for a luncheon. Visitation will be Sunday, August 15, 2021, at Fiksdal Funeral Service from 5-7 P.M. Prayer service led by Pastor Mike McCarlson will begin at 7 P.M. Edwin “Ed” Albert Kuecker Jr. was born on August 4, 1927, in Webster, South Dakota to Edwin Sr. and Lillian (Ericson) Kuecker. He was baptized and confirmed at Morton Methodist Church in rural Webster. Ed attended Morton Country School and then Webster High School. After his education Ed joined the Navy and served during WWII. After his honorable discharge on August 4, 1946, he worked at K.O.LEE in Aberdeen, South Dakota and then went to Grand Island, NE where he helped build a Munitions Depot. He was united in marriage to Mary Magdalene Wika on February 21, 1949, at St. Otto’s Catholic Church in Webster. To this union six children were born: Michael, Ronald, Wayne, Ryan, Joni, and Gary. The family made their home in Morton Township east of Webster where Ed farmed, milked cows, and raised chickens. Ed also custom sprayed for farmers in the area for 50 years. He worked for his brothers David and Paul at Kuecker Kountry Farms. In 1983 Edwin and Mary moved into Webster and then moved to Strand-Kjorsvig Community Rest Home in Roslyn in early 2016. Ed retired in 2010. Edwin was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #4690 and Herbert McKennett American Legion Post #40. After retirement Edwin and Mary enjoyed traveling and sightseeing. The couple loved to play cards and dice games at the kitchen table and mom did not like to lose. Mary passed away on August 15, 2017. Edwin enjoyed woodworking and would make handcrafted gifts for family. He also enjoyed welding, gardening, checking the crops, and rock collecting. Edwin passed away on August 11, 2021, at Bethesda Home in Webster at the age of 94 years and 7 days. He will be deeply missed by his five children: Ron Kuecker of Webster, SD, and his daughters: Becca & Juston Barse (Jaydnn, Mattea, Marley, and Nevaeh) and Kelli Bullert (Penelope and Pria); Wayne (Mona) Kuecker of Hermosa, SD, and their sons: Curtis & Mandy Kuecker (Landen, Peyton, Alivia) and Kevin & Kayla Kuecker (Lincoln, Cameron, Mia); Ryan Kuecker of Webster, SD and his children Ashley Kuecker (A’Mya, Ryatt), Cody Kuecker (Cullen, Kiyan, Ava), and Kyle Goble; Joni & Roy Schmig of Webster, SD and their children (Tyler and Taura); Gary (Leigh) Kuecker of Watertown, SD and their children Morgan and Tate, Michael & Iris Roberts (Noah, Miranda, Kailani, Amelia); two brothers David (Debbie) Kuecker and Roger (Carol) Kuecker of Webster, SD; one sister Betty (Jim) Glosimodt of Watertown, four sisters-in-law, Shirley Kuecker of Webster, SD, Evy Kuecker of Kearney, NE, Loraine Erickson of Webster, SD, and Norma Wika of Webster, SD; one brother-in-law Willie Wika of Yankton, SD, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary, son Michael James, four siblings: Charles “Chuck” (Marlene “Molly”) Kuecker, John and Paul Kuecker, and Mary Ann (Alvin) Olson, and a daughter-in-law Lona J.
