WAUBAY – Eddie Hinze 76 of Waubay passed away Thursday July 4, 2019 at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown.
His funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Monday July 8, 2019 at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster. Burial will be at Lakewood Cemetery near Waubay.
Eddie Milo Hinze was born on August 14, 1942 to Harvard and Hazel (Urevig) Hinze at Webster, South Dakota. He was baptized at St. Pauli’s Lutheran Church and attended country school near the family home south of Waubay, South Dakota. After his education, he worked road construction.
On September 1, 1963, he married Sandy Willard at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Waubay. The couple made their home in Aberdeen, South Dakota until relocating to Sioux City, Iowa where Eddie attended welding school. Upon completion, the couple returned to the Waubay area. Eddie worked road construction and drove milk truck for Peschke Trucking and later became an over-the-road trucker for Coast to Coast Hardware where he had over a million accident free miles. In 1981 he was one of two representatives of Coast to Coast at the National Truck Rodeo where he won two first place trophies for the company. He was a kind man with a gentle heart who loved visiting and spending time with friends and family.
Eddie enjoyed prairie dog hunting, and repairing and collecting guns. Throughout his life, Eddie was passionate about helping his family, friends and neighbors.
Eddie passed away Thursday July 4, 2019 at Watertown, South Dakota at the age of 76 years, 10 months, and 20 days.
He will forever be loved and greatly missed by his family; Sandy Hinze of Waubay, SD, Darrin (Jennifer) Hinze of West Fargo, ND, Karla Hinze of West Fargo, ND, and Misti (Troy) Gilbertson of Waubay, SD as well as his 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and one son Miles Hinze.
Visitation will be 5-7 P.M. Sunday closing with a 7 P.M. prayer service at the funeral home.
