Earl M. Bloom

WEBSTER – Earl M. Bloom 96 of Webster passed away Tuesday July 9, 2019 at Bethesda Home in Webster. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 13, 2019 at the United Methodist Church in Webster, Rev. Mark Tracy will officiate. Burial will be in the Webster Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday 5-7 P.M. ending with a 7 P.M. Prayer Service. Earl Merritt Bloom was born on February 19, 1923 to Harry and Sadie (Carr) Bloom near Webster, SD. He was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Webster. He attended country school until 8th grade and then attended Webster High School, graduating in 1943. After graduation he began his lifelong farming career. On June 8, 1952 he was united in marriage to Cora (Tetzloff) at United Methodist Church in Webster. To this union six children were born. The couple made their home near Webster then to Florence and back to Webster, where they settled on the Bloom family homestead in Wheatland Township South of Webster in 1964. Earl continued to farm raising pigs, sheep, milking cows, and grain farming. In 2001 the couple moved into Webster. Earl kept busy working at his son’s tire shop. Cora passed away in 2014. Earl continued to live at their home in Webster until present time. Earl enjoyed gardening, roller skating, square dancing, playing cards and marbles, and attending his grandkids sporting events. Earl passed away on July 9, 2019 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 96 years, 4 months and 20 days. Survivors include his three sons; Monty (Mary) Bloom of Webster, SD, Marty (Geri) Bloom of River Falls, WI and Mark (Andrea) Bloom of Waubay, SD; two daughters, Melanie (Harvey) Opitz of Eden, SD and Melissa Bloom of Florence, SD; sister-in-law, Irene Bloom of Webster, SD, 15 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild. He is proceeded in death by his parents, wife, one son, Michael, three brothers, Laverne, Harold, Donald Sr.; one sister, Dorothy Camp; two grandsons, Derek Mohr, Benjamin Cypher, two granddaughters, Rachel Grover and Lisa Bloom; two great-granddaughters, Harlie and Hunter Cypher; two great-grandsons, Everson Konshak and Michael Grover.
