Dwayne Eidet, 75 of Waubay died on Tuesday, December 08, 2015 at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown. His funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Waubay. Charles Bunk will officiate. Burial will be at Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday 5-7 P.M. ending with a 7 P.M. Prayer Service. Dwayne Philip Eidet was born on October 30, 1940 to Paul and Dina (Hovland) Eidet at Sisseton, South Dakota. The family lived on a farm south of Ortley. He was baptized and confirmed at Lebanon Lutheran Church near his home. He attended country school and graduated from Waubay High School in 1958. He began working at the Red Owl Grocery store in Waubay when he was a young man and in 1970 took over the store from his father. On August 16, 1971 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Anderson at Reno, Nevada. After their marriage the couple made their home on Blue Dog Lake. He operated the grocery store until he sold it and retired in 2003. He was also a part-time mail carrier and was employed by the City of Waubay in maintenance in the summer months. He also spent time in the South Dakota National Guard when he was younger. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Waubay and held many offices through the years, he was currently their financial secretary. He was a member of the Waubay American Legion where he was financial secretary, the honor guard and in charge of bingo. Dwayne was a member of the Waubay Senior Citizens where he was treasurer, he was involved with the Museum of Wildlife, Science and Industry in Webster and was a R.S.V.P. Volunteer and since he joined in 1999 had logged over 7000 hours. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, taking them to baseball games and on trips to Washington, D.C., New York and Disney World. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Waubay; three stepsons, Neil (Deb) Anderson, John (Linda) Anderson and Donald Anderson all of Waubay, SD; three sisters, Colleen Helwig of Upton, WY, Jean (Ken) Ness of Waubay, SD and Karen (Ron Eiffler) Eidet of Minneapolis, MN; sisters-in-law, Lorene Aker of Waubay, SD, Beverly (Harlan) Bachman of Webster, SD and Florence (Bob) Grebel of Waubay, SD; five grandchildren, Jamie (Nicole) Anderson, Scott Anderson, Melissa (James) Masselink, Mary (& fiancée, Desi Campbell) Anderson and Lisa Anderson (& friend, Dan); and five great grandchildren, Konner and Cheznie Anderson, Newton and Masi Campbell and Job Dwayne Masselink (newborn). He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John.
