WEBSTER- Dr. Wanda Coffield Hisel, 67 of Webster died on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at a Sioux Falls hospital. She is the wife of Rev. John Hisel of the United Methodist Church in Webster and Bristol. Her funeral will be at 1:00 P.M. Saturday at Christ The King Catholic Church in Webster, burial will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday at Hills of Rest Cemetery, Sioux Falls. Visitation - Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Friday 4-8 P.M. and prior to services on Saturday. Dr. Wanda Annette Coffield Hisel was born on Tuesday, March 7, 1939 to Dio and Nettie (Kunkel) Coffield at Sioux Falls, South Daktota. She was baptized at the Riverside Presbyterian Church. She attended Riverside Elementary School, Whittier School and then graduated from Washington High School in 1957. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from the University of Sioux Falls, her Master’s Degree in Education from Augustana College and her PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from Kansas State University in Manhatten, KS. On January 24, 1959 she married John Hisel at Sioux Falls, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple lived in several towns and cities where Rev. Hisel served as a Methodist Pastor, Army Chaplain, and NABS Seminary Staff. She began her teaching career at Sioux Falls and also taught at the college and university level at the University of South Dakota, Northern State University, University of Winnipeg, Mankato State and Florida-Atlantic University. She also taught at the elementary and high school level in Boca Raton, Florida, Lincoln Grade School in Sioux Falls and Bellevue, Washington School District. She was a devoted minister’s wife and served with her husband in team ministry wherever he was called to serve. She loved her children deeply and enjoyed her times with them and her extended family. She worked at making a difference in whatever she did, teaching, family and church. She was extremely vivacious in her personality, she was very devoted in her Christian faith. She had a persuasive attitude and was an inspiration to all who knew her. She loved teaching Sunday School. The couple loved to travel and she was an avid antique collector, home decorator, and aficionado of fine jewelry. Survivors include her husband, Rev. John Hisel of Webster, SD; one son, Tim (Kathleen) Hisel of Savannah, GA; one daughter, Tiffany (Tim) Hosley of Aberdeen, SD; one brother, Tom (Linda) Coffield of Sioux Falls, SD; and three sisters-in-law, Diane (Wayne) Stamm of Brea, CA, Mary (Ed) Hisel-French of Saugus, CA and Bonnie Coffield of Sioux Falls, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and four brothers. Wanda was full of grace and her family will miss the light she brought into our lives.
