Dr.Allan Anderson

WEBSTER- Dr. Allan Anderson 84, of Webster, died on Wednesday, December 06, 2006, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls. His funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 11, 2006 at the United Methodist Church in Webster, Rev. John Hisel officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Webster Cemetery. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Sunday 4-8 P.M. with a 7:00 Masonic prayer service. Allan Jay Anderson was born on Monday, May 1, 1922 to Palmer and Florence (Shipman) Anderson at Dell Rapids, South Dakota. He grew up there and graduated from Dell Rapids High School in 1939. He attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. In his third year he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during World War II. After his discharge in 1946 he returned to U.S.D. On July 29, 1946 he married Norma Rayman at Elk Point, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple made their home in Beresford and in 1947 graduated from U.S.D. The couple moved to Omaha where he began Creighton School of Dentistry. In 1951 he graduated and they moved to Brookings where he started a dental practice. In 1954 the couple moved to Webster where he continued his dental practice. He practiced for 50 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Webster where he served on the church board, sang in the choir and served on many church committees. He was a 50 year member of the Webster Kiwanis Club, Coteau Lodge #54 A.F. & A.M. and Herbert McKennett Post 40 American Legion. He also was a member of the Yelduz Shrine and the South Dakota Dental Association. He enjoyed playing golf and bridge, trap shooting, hunting, fishing and having coffee with friends. The couple loved to take bus tours and, for several years, spent some of the winter months traveling in the southern United States. They were able to travel to all 50 states. “Andy” passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 84 years, 7 months and 5 days. Survivors include his wife, Norma of Webster; two daughters, Gail (Gary) Houghton of Claire City, SD and Jill (Jon) Flemmer of Webster, SD; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
