Doug Imrie

Doug Imrie, 71 of Pierre and formerly of Bristol died Tuesday January 29, 2013 at Golden Living Center in Pierre. Private family graveside services will be at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Bristol Cemetery. Rev. Janet Miller will officiate. Douglas Eugene Imrie was born on Monday, May 26, 1941 to Florence (Imrie) Vehe at Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol. He attended school in Bristol and graduated from Bristol High School in 1959. He continued his education at Northern State College in Aberdeen. He operated an income tax preparation service in Bristol for area residents for a short time until illness forced him to retire. In 1981 he moved to Pierre where he lived in assisted living. In 2002 he entered Golden Living Center where he resided until the time of his death. He never married. He enjoyed watching sports and following the Baltimore Orioles baseball team. In his younger years he was an avid bowler and enjoyed listening to music. Doug passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Pierre, South Dakota at the age of 71 years, 8 months and 3 days. Survivors include two sisters, Mary (Doug) Smeins of Pierpont, SD and Muriel Vehe of Aberdeen, SD; two nieces and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother.
