WEBSTER-Donald Peschke 83 of Webster, died on Friday, February 16, 2007 at Sanford Health Care Center in Sioux Falls. Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at Fiksdal Funeral Chapel in Webster, Fr. David Axtmann officiating. Inurnment will be in the spring at St. Otto’s Catholic Cemetery in Webster. There will be no visitation. Donald Thomas Peschke was born on July 5, 1923 to Thomas and Kathrine (Rebelske) Peschke on the family farm in Morton Township near Webster. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Otto’s Catholic Church in Webster. He attended country school through the 8th grade in Morton Township. In 1944 he joined the U.S. Marine Corps in Platoon 413 in SanDiego, Ca. and served stateside and was honorably discharged in 1947. He then moved to Chicago, where he worked for his brother John P. (Jack) at a Standard station. On October 27, 1956 He married Delores Gronke in North Lake, Illinois. The couple made their home in Chicago, where Donald worked at Cragen Metal as a crane operator. In 1967 the couple returned to the family farm due to the death of his brother Tony. The couple continued to reside on the family farm, where Donald was engaged in farming. In 1977 the couple moved into Webster where they have since resided. He was a member of the American Legion Post 500 of Watertown, S.D. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, playing Bingo, and watching the Minnesota Twins. Donald passed away on Friday, February 16, 2007 at Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 83 years, 7 months, and 11 days. Survivors include his wife, Delores of Webster, one sister-in-law, Leona Gronke of Webster, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Clara (Martin) Gollnick, & Mary (Harold) Carron, three brothers, Paul (Mabel) Peschke, Tony Peschke, and John P. (Helen) Peschke, four nephews, Thomas James Peschke, Wayne and James Carron, and LaVerne Gronke.
