Delores Mae Henrichsen was born April 1, 1934, to William and Rose (Herr) Henrichsen, rural Lily. They lived a short time in Oregon before returning to rural Butler where she attended country school. She graduated from Bristol High School in 1952. She attended Northern State College, Aberdeen to obtain her teacher’s certificate. She taught at country schools for several years.

Delores married Maynard Whitmyre Aug. 17, 1958, at Butler Lutheran Church, where they met in Sunday School. They purchased a farm near Webster where she resided until the present. She was a partner in their farming, photography, and bus trip businesses and was a meticulous record keeper. She was a member of Butler Lutheran Church, taught Bible and Sunday School and was active in WELCA and circle. She served many years on the NESDCAP board, was member and officer for Sons of Norway, Ebenezer Cemetery Board and Day County Democrats. She enjoyed reading, sewing, baking, gardening and growing flowers, volunteering at the Museum of Wildlife, Science, and Industry, taking daily walks, and attending family gatherings. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and sharing ice cream or a sweet treat with a glass of milk, and attending their school and sports events. Delores was not one to voice her beliefs to anyone but taught by example in living a life of virtue, acceptance, commitment, and love, giving 100% of herself in the many roles she served. She will be greatly missed by those whose lives she touched.

Survivors include her children, Patricia and Allen Sass, Debra and Jeffrey Schiley, Robert and Tonia Whitmyre, rural Webster; siblings, Joan and Dallas Solberg, Aberdeen; John and Cathy Henrichsen, Lisbon, ND; William Henrichsen, Castlewood; sisters-in-law, Lois Olson, Webster, SD; Evie Henrichsen, Willmar, MN; nine grandchildren, Briana (Jared) Eickhoff, Erin (Tyler) Snaza, Cody Sass, Kyle (Morgan) Whitmyre, Brandon (Sierra) Whitmyre, Caleb (Jordan) Whitmyre, Jessica (John) Schnaible, Sarah (Dan) Lesnar, and Scott and Ashley Schiley; 13 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
