Delores “Dolly” Solberg 88 of Webster died on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Bethesda Home in Webster. Her funeral will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, July 30, 2012 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Webster, Rev. William Olsen will officiate. Burial will be in the Webster Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday 2-5 P.M. and continuing at the church on Monday. Delores “Dolly” Elaine Aadson was born on Tuesday, September 25, 1923 to John and Meady (Haugen) Aadson at Peabody Hospital in Webster, South Dakota. The family lived on a farm in York Township, Day County, South Dakota west of Lily. She attended school in Lily and graduated from Lily High School in 1942. On July 1, 1943 she was united in marriage to Albert Solberg at Britton, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple made their home and farmed three miles west of Lily until they moved to Bristol in July 1959. She worked at the Nygaard Café in Bristol and also worked for many years in the lunch room at the Bristol school. The couple moved to Pleasant View Apartments in Webster in September 1993. Albert passed away in September 1994. After his death she continued to live at Pleasant View until the present time. Delores was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church while they resided in Bristol and St. John’s Lutheran Church after they moved to Webster. She was a member of the Lily HoeDowner Square Dance Club. She was well known for her home-made lefse where she would use over 1000 pounds of potatoes each lefse season. Delores always had a competitive spirit whether it as playing croquet, jarts or cards. She also enjoyed playing softball and attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting activities. She was well known as the “team’s grandma” of her grandchildren’s baseball team, as she rarely missed a game. Her favorite activity in later life was playing bingo with her friends. In 1986 she won a car while playing bingo and was still driving it this year. Delores passed away in Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 88 years and 10 months. She is survived by her children; Dallas (Joan) Solberg of Aberdeen, SD, Dianne (Paul) Ager of Olivia, MN, Alan Solberg and Bette (Jim) Zenk both of Webster, SD; two brothers, Roy Aadson of Prattville, AL and Maynard Aadson of Rapid City, SD; one sister, Joyce (Aadson) Fryett of Spokane, WA; fifteen grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and her special friends include her “Bingo Ladies” and her next door neighbor, Rose Rehn. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, three brothers, three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
