WAUBAY- Delores Rumpca-Zubke 89 of Cannon Falls, MN and formally of Waubay died on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at Cannon Falls, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, April 17, 2008 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Waubay with burial in Lakewood Cemetery, Waubay. Visitation will be 5-8 P.M. Wednesday at the church in Waubay with a 7:00 P.M. Rosary. Fiksdal Funeral Service of Webster is in charge of the arrangements. Delores was born on Sunday, May 12, 1918 in Fillmore, Wisconsin, the daughter of Walter and Bernardine (Anderson) Fickler. As a young woman the family moved to Webster, South Dakota. She attended school in Webster and graduated from Webster High School. On October 4, 1939 she was united in marriage to August Rumpca at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Waubay, SD. After their marriage the couple made their home on a farm in Waubay Township, Day County, South Dakota north of Waubay near Enemy Swim Lake. In 1972 they retired from farming and built a home on Campbell’s Lake. Mr. Rumpca passed away on July 19, 1975. She married Harold Zubke on July 14, 1984 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Waubay. They continued to reside at her lake home. He died on June 3, 1988. In 1996 she moved to an apartment in Waubay and lived there until moving to Cannon Falls, Minnesota in September 2006 to be closer to family. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Altar Society and Catholic Daughters in Waubay, and most recently St. Pius V Catholic Church in Cannon Falls. She was also active at the Waubay Senior Center. Her favorite times were spent with a house full of family or friends and cooking for and attending to their needs. She always enjoyed having her grandkids at her lake home. Delores is lovingly survived by her children Larry (Leslyan) Rumpca of Holbrook, AZ, Lois (Gary) Chapman of Cannon Falls, MN, Lynn (Donna) Rumpca of Silver Bay, MN, Loren (Catherine) Rumpca of Coon Valley, WI and Lee (Robyn) Rumpca of Maplewood, MN. Her grandchildren Jazan (Eric) Wuest, Kimberly (Matt) Conzelman, Tamara Chapman, Robert (Julie) Chapman, Christopher (Angela) Chapman, Michelle (Russ) Schmid, Nicole Rumpca, Stacy (Josh) Ligon, Jay Rumpca, Erica (Brad) Vesbach and Brooke (Russell) Mikelson; 10 Great Grandchildren; her brother LaVerne “Bud” (Barbara) Fickler of Long Beach, CA and her sister Lorraine Nelson of Victorville, CA. Also by her step-children Gary Zubke of Waubay, SD, Carol (Jim) Weyh of Watertown, SD and Terry (Amy) Zubke of Waubay, SD; 7 step-grandchildren. Also by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and a special friend Francis Pischke. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, August and Harold; infant sister; brother Lloyd Fickler and a sister Dorothy Schneider.
