Debra Barrett, 66, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Ava's Hospice House in Sioux Falls.
On Tuesday, February 22, 2022, the Lord called home one of his truest angels, Debra Lea Barret at the age of 66. Debra (Debi) passed away in Sioux Falls, SD after losing her hard battle with unexpected health conditions.
Debi was born October 30, 1955, to William Ralph and Patricia Ruth (Carnahan) Barrett in Oakland, CA. Debi was one of six siblings. Her sisters, Kathryn Ann, Karen Kay, Cynthia Lynn, and brother Ricky Dean and William Jess. Debi kind, soft spoken, smart, and determined. She graduated Highschool out of Marysville School District in Marysville, CA. Not long after graduating she enlisted in the United States Army where she completed one term serving her country. When Debi came home, she welcomed her fist of three beautiful daughters Krista Ann on June 16, 1975. Almost nine months to the day after she welcomed her twin daughters, Lisa Annette and Marissa Beth on March 4, 1976.
Debi found her true love in Richard Allen Jay. The man who she is still married for over 30 years now.
Debi was a beautiful person inside and out. Her family being her pride and joy is what kept that smile on her beautiful face. Even during her hardest moments, she enjoyed life. She loved playing softball both with family and on a team. When she moved to Waubay from California in 2018 you could always find her bowling with her weekly bowling league. But her nitch was found in her gardening.
Debi is preceded in death by her father William Ralph Barrett, her sister Karen Kay, her brother-in-law Jack Kempter and nephew J.J. Kempter. Debi is survived by her husband Richard Allen Jay, her mother Patricia Ruth Barrett, sisters Kathryn Ann and Cynthia Lynn, her brothers Ricky Dean, and William Jess, daughters Krista Ann Mendora, Lisa Annette Oliver, and Marissa Beth Barrett, Her nine grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Debi you will be forever loved and always missed.
A celebration of Debi’s life will be held at a later date in the Spring of 2022. The family ask in lieu of flowers any donations be made toward her final arrangements.
