He grew to be a man that loved the outdoors and all that came with it. He attended St. Ottos Catholic School, and was a graduate of Webster High School. David didnt venture very far from the farm. His first love was the farm, learning from his father the joy that came with tilling the soil and watching the wonder of crops growing. As a young man he had a passion for music, with drums being his instrument of choice. A band was formed called the Cowboy Ramblers. Many barn dances were livened up with the beat of his drums. The farm may have been his first love, but his true love was his wife of 68 year. LaVina Goetz and David Wattier wed on Sept. 27, 1944. From that union four children were born. They worked side by side to raise their children, and work the farm. Never to be idle, in the winter time, David loved to ice fish and trap. There wasnt a pond of water in a 50 mile radius that wasnt trapped by him once winter set in. Fishing and hunting were his favorite hobbies, bringing him enjoyment and food for the table. He continued farming until the age of 80, reluctantly giving up the 16 hour days. He continued to plant many gardens to fill his time. At the age of 84, he contracted West Nile disease. After many weeks in the hospital, and defying all odds, he came home to his family. His comment at that time was that God wasnt ready for him. We were blessed to have him with us for another 6 years. His five grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren brought him much joy in his twilight years. Their laughter and love of life always brought a smile to his face and a song to his heart. David was a man of integrity, whose life revolved around God and family. All that knew him knew him to be an honest hardworking man, who took time to laugh and enjoy the gifts that God gave him. His laughter, jokes, and smile will be missed by his family and all that knew him. He was preceded in death by his loving daughter Maria, parents Adolph and Mary, his brothers Walter, Marvin and Lambert, and his sister Florence. He is survived by his wife LaVina, son Mike and wife Jeanne, Jane and her husband Tom, daughter Kathy, sister Rosella, grandchildren Shayne, Ericka, Brandon, Chad and Barrett. Great grandchildren Cody, Autumn, Ethan, Annika, Brandon Jr, Ashley, Brooklyn, Emily, Liam, Cecily, Zack, and Blake Miles.
