WEBSTER- David Schlotte 66 of Webster died on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at Sanford Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, March 31, 2007 at Christ The King Catholic Church in Webster, Burial will be in the Webster Cemetery. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Friday 2-4 P.M. then continuing at the church until 8 P.M. with a 7:30 P.M. Scriptural Prayer service. David Paul Schlotte was born on Saturday, February 15, 1941 to Carl and Gertrude (Nelson) Schlotte at Peabody Memorial Hospital in Webster. The family lived on a farm in Rusk Township, Day County, south of Webster. He was baptized and confirmed at American Lutheran Church in Webster. He attended District 186 country school near his home and graduated from Webster High School in 1959. He then attended S.D.S.U. in Brookings for a year. In 1962 he entered the U. S. Navy and spent two years in Japan and two and a half years stateside. He learned photography while in the military. After his discharge in 1967 he returned to Webster. On November 11, 1967 he married Charlene Geer at Wolf Point, Montana. After their marriage the couple made their home in Sioux Falls where he worked for a Brick Manufacturing Company. In 1969 they moved to Watertown where he worked at a mobile home factory and then attended VoTech where he studied electronics (Radio and T.V. Repair). In 1972 they moved to Webster where he did T.V. and Radio Repair. In 1979 they purchased a farm northeast of Webster in Raritan Township and in 1988 he began working for Central Bi-Products as a rendering truck driver. He was currently still working for the company. He was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church in Webster. He was a member of Herbert McKennett Post 40 American Legion of Webster and V.F.W. Post 4690 of Webster. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. David passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 66 years, 1 month and 13 days. Survivors include his wife, Charlene of Webster; one son, Patrick (Olga) Schlotte of Aberdeen, SD; three daughters, Lee Ann (Brad) Dekker of Philip, SD, Jodi (Mike Gruba) Schlotte of Grenville, SD and Dawn (Jeromy) Thorstenson of Aberdeen, SD; one brother, LeRoy (Beverly) Schlotte of Webster, SD; two sisters, Dorothy (Larry) Dorwort and Carol (Gene) Derdall both of Kimball, SD; and ten grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren.
