David Reetz

David Reetz 40 of North Mankato, MN and formerly of Webster died on Friday, May 25, 2012 at his home in Mankato. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Christ The King Catholic Church in Webster. Burial will be at St. Otto’s Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday 5-7 P.M. with a 7 P.M. Rosary (also at funeral home). Memorials will be used to establish a scholarship fund for Webster High School Students that plan to attend a power lineman program. David Charles Reetz was born on Saturday, January 15, 1972 to Donald and Helen (Pingle) Reetz at Webster, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed at Christ The King Catholic Church in Webster. David graduated from Webster High School in 1990 and was very active in football, basketball and track. David attended Black Hills State University in Spearfish for three years and then transferred to Northern State University in Aberdeen for one year. He then attended Mitchell Technical Institute and graduated with a high honor diploma in Power Line Construction and Maintenance in 1999. He did his internship at Lake Region Electric Association in Webster and started his lineman career as an apprentice in Hastings, Nebraska and then went to work at Black Hills Power and Light in Rapid City. Here he proceeded to attain his Journeyman License. Dave then went to work for Aquila in Pueblo, Colorado and did contracting work for the large highline wires in Minneapolis. He was currently working as a Journey Lineman for Xcel Energy in Mankato, Minnesota. David was attending Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato. He was a Life Member of the National Rifle Association. He was a true outdoorsman. His passion was hunting, fishing and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Dave had an adventurous spirit. He loved new experiences and took normal everyday things to the edge. Heights, water and wilderness were his playground. He loved to travel and made many friends everywhere he went. He cherished visiting and making lasting memories with his friends. David passed away on Friday, May 25, 2012 at his home in North Mankato, Minnesota at the age of 40 years, 4 months and 10 days David is survived by his mother, Helen Reetz of Webster, SD; one sister, Barbara (Kurt McKane) of Bristol, SD, his grandmother, Ann Pingle of Webster, SD; and aunts, Marie (Joseph) Varholik of Heber Springs, AR Donna (Chuck) Hendricks of Lakewood, CO. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Reetz, grandparents, Herman and Marie Reetz, William Pingle, Clifford Johnson and an uncle, Richard (Dick) Reetz.
