Darwin Knutson, 50 of Webster died on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 from injuries sustained in a two vehicle accident near Onawa, Iowa.
His funeral will be at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, April 1, 2017 at United Methodist Church in Webster, Rev. Ken Ballard will officiate. Military interment will be in Webster Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Friday 5-7 P.M. ending with a 7 P.M. Prayer Service. Visitation will continue prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Darwin Lee Knutson was born on July 9, 1966 to Donald and Patricia (Fitz) Knutson at Sisseton, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown, South Dakota. He began school in Sisseton. The family lived in various locations in the area and he graduated from Waubay High School in 1984. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army, he was honorably discharged in 1987. He lived in Watertown and worked for Kuecker Brothers near Webster.
On December 30, 1989 he was united in marriage to Amy Kuecker at the United Methodist Church in Webster. After their marriage the couple made their home in Aberdeen. In 1990 his 452nd Army Reserve unit was activated to Operation Desert Storm. He was honorably discharged in 1991. The couple then moved to Webster where he continued to work for Kuecker Brothers until 1999 when he began working at Dakota Tube. In 2012 he began working as an independent trucking agent for Indiana Transport, where he transported campers, R.V.’s and fifth wheel campers to dealers throughout the country.
Darwin was a member of the United Methodist Church in Webster. He was an avid Duke, Nebraska, Twins, Vikings and Bearcats fan. He also enjoyed reading western novels. He enjoyed and supported his children’s activities in 4-H and was proud of his herefords and heifers, and loved to go to cattle shows and watching his children show their animals. Darwin’s wife and children were his world.
Darwin passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Onawa, Iowa at the age of 50 years, 8 months and 19 days.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Amy of Webster; two sons, Dyllan Knutson of Brookings, SD and Thomas Knutson of Webster, SD; one daughter, Megan Knutson of Webster, SD; his parents, Donald and Patricia Knutson of Watertown, SD; and one sister, Susan (Loren)Theunissen of Brookings, SD. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and an infant brother, Kenny.
