Daniel Arthur Lone better known to his friends as Art lost his battle with cancer Friday, July 9 at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown, SD surround by family.
Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. on Tuesday July 13, 2021, at Fiksdal Funeral Service, Webster SD.
*All in attendance are asked to wear Minnesota Viking clothing in honor of Daniel.
Memorial services will be at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday July 14, 2021, at Bethesda Lutheran Church, Bristol, SD. Service will be livestreamed on Fiksdal Funeral Service Facebook page and Fiksdal Funeral Service website. Diane Hoines will officiate. Luncheon will follow Memorial service at the Community Center in Bristol.
Daniel was born in Webster, SD to Arnold and Alice Lone and graduated from Lakeville Highschool, MN. He worked in Alaska for a short time and then returned to South Dakota to work for local farmers. He worked on a custom combining crew, drove truck, did mechanical maintenance, and bartended. Danny spent the last 36 years working, owning, and improving Dakota Foundry in Webster before retiring last year. Daniel married Janel (Goehring) and celebrated 30 years of marriage. He built a home for his family in rural Pierpont next to his family homestead. The couple had two children Darrick and Wyatt. His family and home were his pride and joy. He enjoyed supporting his sons in numerous sports, cheering on the Groton Tigers. He also was a lifelong fan of the Minnesota Vikings. Skol Vikes! Daniel was an avid golfer, bowler, and hunter. He touched the lives of many with his kind, generous spirit. A man who would lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Daniel is survived by his wife Janel Lone of rural Pierpont, SD, sons Darrick (Samantha) Lone of Aurora, SD and Wyatt Lone of Aberdeen, SD; one sister Judy Timmer of Farmington, MN and 4 brothers Arnie Jr (Tammy) Lone, Michael (Barb) Lone, Garry (Merry) Lone all of Bristol, SD, and Tom Lone of Pierpont, SD; two sisters-in-law Carole Anderson of Watertown, SD and Sue Lone of Webster, SD; one brother-in-law Bernard Hanson of Lakeville, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
Daniel is preceded in death by his parents Arnold Sr and Alice Lone, brother Charlies Lone, sister Barbra Hanson, and brother-in-law Barry Timmer.
