Dale Zubke, 77 of Waubay died on Wednesday, May 09, 2012 at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown. His funeral will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waubay, Rev. Jeffrey Kalb will officiate. Burial will be at Lakewood Cemetery in Waubay. Visitation will on Friday 5-7 P.M. and prior to services on Saturday. Dale Emil Zubke was born on Thursday, September 20, 1934 to Erich and Ida (Neckles) Zubke at Killdeer, North Dakota. He started country school near their farm and when he was seven years old the family moved to a farm in Waubay Township, Day County, South Dakota north of Waubay. He continued country school through the eighth grade. After he received his education he moved to Sioux Falls where he was employed at Terrace Park Dairy, later he moved to Fargo and then to Rapid City. On September 19, 1953 he was united in marriage to Arlene Mikkelson at Rapid City. After their marriage they continued to live in Rapid City. In 1954 the couple moved back to a farm north of Waubay and began farming. They purchased a farm in Central Point Township south of Waubay in 1960 and continued to farm. Arlene passed away in January 2005. After her death he continued to live and farm until the present time. He was an active member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waubay where he was an elder and served on the board of trustees. Dale and Arlene enjoyed square dancing when she was able. He attended many old time music jamborees in the area. Dale loved farming and enjoyed all that went with the lifestyle. Dale passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2012 at Watertown, South Dakota at the age of 77 years, 7 months and 19 days. Survivors include three sons, Dennis Zubke of Waubay, SD, Lynn (Deb) Zubke of Roslyn, SD and Mark (Julie Bjerke) Zubke of Waubay, SD; five daughters, Donna (Larry) Green of Amana, IA, Lois (Bob) Ragatz of Frankfort, SD, Lorri (Dean) Elverud of Aberdeen, SD, Marilyn (Ernie) Gronke of Waubay, SD and Lorna (Jason) Whitted of Watertown, SD; one brother, Harvey (Violet) Zubke of Florence, SD; one sister, Shirley Bisgard of Waubay, SD, sixteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, Ryan, one daughter, Myra, four brothers and one sister.
