Clifford Peterson, 90 of Webster and formerly of Roslyn died on Sunday, July 03, 2011 at Bethesda Home in Webster.
His funeral will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Fron Lutheran Church near Roslyn, Janet Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.
Clifford Belmont Peterson was born on Saturday, July 31, 1920 to Andrew and Alma (Otterby) Peterson on the family farm in Raritan Township, Day County, South Dakota west of Roslyn. He was baptized and confirmed at Roslyn Lutheran Church. He attended country school near his home and graduated from Roslyn High School in 1938. After high school he farmed with his parents on the family farm and eventually, after their deaths, took over the farm.
On October 8, 1976 he was united in marriage to Lorraine Holland-Haagenson at Stave Church near Rapid City, South Dakota. After their marriage they continued to live on his farm. In 2006 they moved to Heritage Village in Webster. He entered Bethesda Home in 2008. Lorraine passed away in May 2009.
He was a member of Fron Lutheran Church where he served on the Church Council and other committees. For many years he served on the Raritan Township Board and Day County F.S.A. Board. He loved farming and was ahead of his time on many farming techniques for which he received many awards. He was a certified seed dealer.
Clifford passed away on Sunday July 3, 2011 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 90 years, 11 months and 3 days.
Survivors include five nieces and nephews including Annabelle (Jerry) Timmer of Superior, WI, Frederick (Judith) Amundson of Iowa City, IA, Clarice (Jerry) Nelson of Wrenshall, MN, Marjorie (Dave) Cain of Richfield, MN and Jane (Lee) Svatos of Manhattan, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one sister, one brother and one niece.
