BRISTOL- Clifford Gannon, 87 of Bristol died on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at Sun Dial Manor in Bristol. His funeral will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday, January 22, 2007 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol, Rev. Dan Overbo officiating. Burial will be in Webster Cemetery. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Sunday 4-8 P.M. and prior to services on Monday. Clifford Ernest Gannon was born on March 30, 1919 to Jesse and Ida (Luke) Gannon in Seward, NE. He was baptized and confirmed at Disciples of Christ Church in Lincoln, NE. In 1936 he graduated from Seward High School. In 1937 he entered the US Army 4th Calvary at Ft. Meade, SD, his duties were cooking and baking and he also took up photography. On April 25, 1938 he married Phyllis McKane. He was discharged from the US Army in 1940. He then entered the US Army Air Force in February of 1944 and was stationed in Pecos, TX and Denver, CO. He was discharged from the US Army Air Force in October of 1945. The couple then moved to Andover, SD and operated a café in town for two years. Phyllis passed away in 1955. On February 16, 1957 he married Nila Ninke in Webster, SD. The couple made their home in Andover and later moved to the Grace Rieter Farm south of Andover where they farmed. Clifford did farm work for Peterson Inc. and Randy Zimmerman for several years. In 1994 they moved to Webster. Nila passed away on February 9, 2000. He was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol and was also a Deacon on the Church Board. He served as the Andover Township Clerk and was a Mason for several years. He enjoyed reading and he had a great sense of humor. Clifford passed away at the age of 87 years, 9 months, and 18 days at Bristol, SD. He is survived by three daughters: Carol (Greg) Rutherford of Princeton, MN, Gail (Dennis) Huwe of Bristol, SD, and Kaye (Robert) Ducsay of Euclid, OH; one brother: Cecil (Jodi) Gannon of Woodland Hills, CA; one sister: Lillie Watson of Euless, TX; eleven grandchildren, five step grandchildren and thirty-three great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Phyllis and Nila, and two brothers, Elvin and Rex.
