Christine Johnson, 100 of Webster died on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Bethesda Home in Webster.
Her funeral will be at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Fiksdal Funeral Chapel in Webster, Rev. Janet Miller will officiate. Burial will be at Webster Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday 5-7 P.M. and prior to services on Wednesday.
Christine Caroline Ludtke was born on Sunday, July 13, 1913 to Rudolph and Bertha (Petrausch) Ludtke on a farm in Morton Township, Day County, South Dakota. She attended and graduated from Waubay High School and then attended Northern Normal and Industrial School in Aberdeen. She taught in a one room country school for several years.
On Jun 14, 1938 she was united in marriage to Elmer Johnson at Waubay, South Dakota. To this union four children were born, Jeanine, Leanel, Dean and Corrine. The couple made their home in Webster all their marriage life. In the fall of 2003 Christine entered Bethesda Home in Webster. Elmer passed away in March 2007.
Christine was deeply involved with American Lutheran Church in Webster where she was active in Circle and Lutheran Church Women where she held several local and regional offices. She was also active in several civic organizations, including the Library Club.
Christine passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 100 years, 11 months and 8 days.
Survivors include two sons, Leanel (Cynthia) Johnson of Grand Rapids, MN and Dean (Sherry) Johnson of West Fargo, ND; a daughter, Jeanine Johnson of Apple Valley, MN; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Corrine, two brothers, Edward and Ernest and a son-in-law, Charles.
