Charles Leslie Sattler was born on August 22, 1955, to John and Iva (Burns) Sattler. He attended country school near the family farm and later at Roslyn. Chuck was always a farmer at heart and learned a passion for boxing in his younger years. In the early and mid-1970’s, Chuck boxed in heavy weight matches, earning his Golden Gloves.
On October 30, 1976, Chuck married Tamie Jensen at Fron Lutheran Church. Together, they raised four children, Troy, Casey, Tonya, and Erica. The family made their home in Roslyn. Chuck worked for many local farmers milking cows and doing field work. Chuck also worked at the Roslyn Meat Market as a butcher and at Roslyn Elevator for many years helping during harvest season. Chuck worked at Superior /Medallion Homes in Watertown for 20 years. A few deer didn’t survive that daily commute! Every hay season, Chuck would be found making hay in fields and ditches in the Roslyn area. He enjoyed playing Whist and Buck Euchre, as well as shaking dice with his coffee buddies at Schmidt’s. He was such an incredibly proud dad and grandpa. Chuck had a tender heart for everyone, especially kids. He was known to many kiddos as the “Candy Man”. He always had a treat to hand out to a youngster, whether he knew them or not.
Chuck was a member of Fron Lutheran Church where he served on the church council several times over the years. He was also a member of the Glacial Lakes Men’s Club, as well as the Roslyn Fire Department, where he served as fire chief for many years.
Chuck was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings but was the biggest fan of the Roslyn Vikings. He was at all his kids’ sporting events, cheering them on from the bleachers. We always knew where he was sitting! Above all else, Chuck cherished time with his family. He always ended a visit or a phone call with an “I Love You”.
After a courageous battle with cancer, Chuck passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at the age of 67 years, 6 months, and 23 days. His legacy will forever live on through his family.
