Charles Johnson

Charles Johnson, 77 of Clear Lake and formerly of Watertown and Waubay area died on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Good Samaritan Society Duel County. His funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Fiksdal Funeral Chapel in Webster, Robert Grebel will officiate. Burial will be at Egeland Lutheran Cemetery, Waubay. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Charles Harlan Johnson was born on Saturday, April 28, 1934 to Charley and Elva (Bisgard) Johnson at Waubay, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He attended country school near his home to the fifth grade and then attended Webster Public School to the seventh grade. He worked with his parents on the family farm until 1975 and then came to ATCO Enterprises in Watertown but then left due to his fathers illness until May 1977 when he returned to Watertown. Charles lived independently with community supports. He enjoyed watching television and going to the Senior Citizens Center in Watertown. In February 2009, due to health concerns, Charles was moved to a retirement home. While at the home he suffered a fall, was hospitalized and then moved to Good Samaritan Society in Clear Lake where he resided until his death. He was a member of Egeland Lutheran Church near Waubay. Charles passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Clear Lake, South Dakota at the age of 77 years, 5 months and 27 days. Survivors include one sister, Norma Wischhusen of Northridge, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Audrey Johnson and Oriette Schultz.
