Carol Hamman, 73 of Waubay died on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Jenkins Living Center in Watertown.
A Celebration of Life potluck dinner will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the Salvation Army Community Center in Watertown followed by a balloon release in honor of Carol (please bring a balloon to release).
Carol Joan Gebur was born on Tuesday, April 7, 1942 to Joseph and Margaret (Weyer) Gebur at Webster, South Dakota. She grew up in Webster, attended school and graduated from Webster High School. She moved to Massachusetts where she attended Winford Beauty Academy in Boston and became a licensed beautician. She lived near Boston and worked part-time as a beautician, was employed at Brandlee’s Department store and other various jobs. In the early 1970’s she returned to Webster to care for her father.
On October 20, 1973 she was united in marriage to Gerald Hamman at Waubay, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple made their home on a farm south of Waubay. She worked at Dacotah, Inc. in Webster and also at Dakota Sioux Casino in Watertown. Gerald passed away in April 2007. After his death she continued to live on the family farm until May 2015 when she entered Jenkins Living Center in Watertown.
Carol loved traveling, cooking, gardening and watching Antiques Roadshow. While in Massachusetts she enjoyed Cape Cod and Providence Town, whale watching and fresh sea food. She loved to go casino “hopping” from South Dakota, to Las Vegas to Massachusetts. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Carol passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Watertown, South Dakota at the age of 73 years, 3 months and 4 days.
Survivors include a son, Kevin Hamman and granddaughter, Kaylee both of Waubay, SD; two sisters, Lois Bonardi of Rockland, MA and Delores Whitlock of Watertown, SD; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
