WEBSTER – Calvin Gardner, 72 of Webster passed away Tuesday July 24, 2018 at his home near Webster.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Webster. Burial will be in St. Otto’s Cemetery
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday 5-7 P.M. ending with a 7 P.M. Rosary.
Calvin John Gardner was born on September 6, 1945 to John and Alice (Schlekewy) Gardner at Webster, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Otto’s Catholic Church in Webster. He attended St. Otto’s Parochial School through the eighth grade and graduated from Webster High School in 1963. After high school he helped his father on the family farm.
On September 18, 1965 he was united in marriage to Jackie Manska at St. Otto’s Catholic Church in Webster. After their marriage the couple lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota for a short time and then returned to the Webster area. He operated heavy equipment for Knight Construction and various other companies. In 1973 he took over the family dairy and farming operation from his dad. He was currently farming with his son at the present time.
Calvin loved farming. He liked the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and grandchildren. He provided many a fishing report from what he learned at the coffee shop. He also was quite a conversationalist and enjoyed talking with many friends and family.
He is survived by his wife Jackie of Webster; four sons, Rick (Stacie) Gardner of Bismarck, ND, Rob (Trish) Gardner of Baltic, SD, Ryan Gardner of Bismarck, ND and Russ (Shawna) Gardner of Sioux Falls, SD; two sisters, Sherry (Chuck) Monson of Burnsville, MN and Kathy (Burt) Nielsen of Richfield, MN; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and many other relatives and friends.
